Researchers at the University of Cambridge Engineering Department are using Lego Mindstorms rather than hugely expensive ‘proper’ robots to help with their experiments to grow real bones. A great example of how engineers are really good at finding low-cost, creative solutions to problems. And as a bonus, they get to play with Lego at work.
The ‘Humans Invent’ website has some amazing inventions, and one of the most amazing is the machine developed by Sharp that can build new electronic devices, one molecular layer at a time. Well worth a look.
